Information on Labeling Obligations under Regulation (EU) 2025/1988

Regulation (EU) 2025/1988 imposes an immediate labeling obligation on both distributors and equipment holders regarding fire-fighting foams (concentrates and extinguishers) containing PFAS.

Affected Party Description of Obligation
Distributors (Point 8) Any product (concentrate or extinguisher) placed on the market containing more than 1 mg/l PFAS must be provided with a clearly legible and indelible label as specified in the regulation.
Equipment Holders (Point 9) Users must ensure that existing, unused stocks (e.g., installed fire extinguishers) and any collected PFAS-containing waste are also marked with the appropriate warning label.
